The Positives of Akira Toriyama

Akira Toriyama was born in 1955, in 1992, he first found his success which was the platform from where his professional career as a manga writer took off. Dr. Slump earned him the Shogakukan manga award in 1982. Which is Japans biggest manga award. Dragonball began as a weekly Shonen Jump series in 1984 with Toriyama tirelessly working each week to create a new chapter.

This is of course developed into the Dragonball we know and love today. Toriyama finished the manga in 1995 which means he had been writing each week for 11 years, culminating in 519 chapters. As an artist and story-writer, there are some clear positive characteristics & traits that gave him the success he has today.

DB is a multi million dollar franchise. It has created so many jobs & it created a platform for other amines. That being said, Toriyama never shows off his money. He is a very quiet individual. That is very hard to find in a multi million dollar business man. He is respectful to everyone that he meets & he never takes full credit for making Dragonball.

Even with all his success, Toriyama seems to stay humble. Interviews of him are rare, especially video interviews. He's a shy guy & would rather not be in front of the camera. He let's his work do all the talking for him. He's never seen driving extravagant cars & he doesn't live in a multi million dollar house. Instead, Toriyama keeps to himself & would rather do all his talking on paper.

His signature Chibi style helped him get to where he is today. There's no denying Toriyama's talent when it comes to illustrating. The man is on a different level when is comes to drawing. He's been drawing sense he was a little boy. His love for drawing manga's and cartoons really helped him develop into the artist that he is today. There are plenty of mangas he has written or helped illustrate. Some that a lot of you guys might not be familiar with.

Toriyama wrote the manga "Pink" . He also wrote the manga "Go Go Ackman" which was a success in Japan. It was later turned into an anime but was re-written by Takao Koyama. He also wrote " Pola and Roid". Which was a big success as it ranked first from the readers of The Shonen Jump. The manga was unique because it was fully drawn in felt pen & you would be able to tell. He also wrote a science fiction manga titled "Escape". It was one of his shorter mangas. It is obvious that Toriyama has been in the game for a while. His experience is defiantly a plus.

One of the hardest things to do in the TV Show business is attracting people from ALL ages to a show. It's something that typically only happens to Game Shows or Family shows. From the very start, Dragonball was able to attract kids as well as adults. Although, times where different In 1980's when Dragonball was first aired.

re able to show blood and R rated content was hardly a thing back then. Because of this, adults where into the show as well as kids. When Dragonball Z aired, it was almost the same thing but to a certain extent. You could still show blood but R rated content was a bit more strict. The badass nature that Z portrayed entertained young kids as well as grown men &a women. Fast forward 28 years and Dragonball Super aired. Television programming rules are harsh now and are very strict with what can & can't be put on television.

It's hard enough to create a show that attracts fans locally. Now imagine trying to attracts fans from all over the world. Sound tough right? Akira Toriyama made this seem easy, when its not.

Toriyama is a smart man, and here's why. Instead of just using Japanese and Chinese culture in his work, he also borrows ideas from the Western side of the world. This way, Toriyama can satisfy fans from all over the place.

As well as being a great artist, he is also a vigorous story writer & a sturdy video game designer. Although it has it's plot holes at times, you cannot deny that Toriyama has story writing talent. He's an above average storyteller. Dragonball has made us all laugh, mad & sad, only a true professional writer can do that. It had all of the plot elements a good story should have.

The same with DBZ for the most part. The Saiyan saga & Freeza saga were both well written & thought out. Dragonball Super is more of a fan serviceable show but with respectable plot elements for the most part.
